Amanda Knox slams Hollywood film Stillwater for profiting from harrowing story
Amanda Knox has blasted a new Hollywood movie for allegedly ripping off her life story and profiting from it.
The American was twice wrongly convicted of the murder of British student Meredith Kercher in the Italian city of Perugia in 2007.
Ms Knox claims new blockbuster Stillwater, starring Matt Damon, is inspired by her harrowing real life tale.
The film's plot sees an American dad find out that his estranged daughter has been falsely arrested over murdering her friend while studying abroad in Marseille, France.
He heads to Europe to try and exonerate his daughter where he is met by a language barrier, cultural differences and a complex and unfamiliar legal system.
Ms Knox posted a furious tirade aimed at the film on Twitter.
She wrote: "Does my name belong to me? My face? What about my life? My story? Why does my name refer to events I had no hand in?
"I return to these questions because others continue to profit from my name, face & story without my consent. Most recently, the film #STILLWATER.

"The new film by director Tom McCarthy, starring Matt Damon, is 'loosely based' or 'indirectly inspired by' the 'Amanda Knox saga,' as Vanity Fair put it in a for-profit article promoting a for-profit film, neither of which I am affiliated with.
"I want to pause right here on that phrase: 'the Amanda Knox saga.' What does that refer to? Does it refer to anything I did?
"No. It refers to the events that resulted from the murder of Meredith Kercher by a burglar named Rudy Guede."

Ms Knox has always denied any involvement in the murder of her roommate Ms Kercher, from Leeds, who was just 21 when she was killed.
The American foreign exchange student was twice convicted of the crime, along with her former boyfriend Raffaele Sollecito before the pair were exonerated for good in 2015, definitively ending the case.
Rudy Guede was convicted of Ms Kercher's murder in a fast-track trial and was sentenced to 30 years in prison, later reduced to 24. He is expected to serve 16 years, making him eligible for release in 2024.

Stillwater director Tom McCarthy has said that Ms Knox's case inspired the storyline and reviews and promotion of the film have noted the similarity to the real life story.
Since she first hit the headlines in 2007 Ms Knox, now 34, has been the subject of fascination in the media.
The case has spawned dozens of books while Ms Knox and Mr Sollecito have penned their own versions of events. A Netflix film titled Amanda Knox, released in 2016 after her second acquittal, also proved a hit.
She was given the nickname 'Foxy Knoxy' by the media and was branded a "sex-mad American party girl" after prosecutors alleged that Ms Kercher died in a sex game gone wrong.
The character in Stillwater is shown to have a sexual relationship with her dead roommate while Ms Knox said she was "nothing but platonic friends" with Ms Kercher.
Ms Knox added: "By fictionalizing away my innocence, my total lack of involvement, by erasing the role of the authorities in my wrongful conviction, McCarthy reinforced an image of me as a guilty and untrustworthy person.
"I have not been allowed to return to the relative anonymity I had before Perugia."
Ms Knox married author Christopher Robinson in 2018 and the couple recently suffered a miscarriage.
