An Airbnb booked for two people turned into a huge illegal party as the landlord watched on CCTV.

Corin Jackson rented the flat out to a young woman who he said 'kicked and screamed' and refused to leave when he arrived back to shut it down.

There were at least 25 guests and the woman told him, “I will pay for everyone”, the Manchester Evening News reports.

Eventually he got everyone to leave the apartment in the Vulcan Mills in Ancoats, Manchester, which was left covered in rubbish and nitrous oxide canisters.

He said he accepted the booking for two people last Wednesday on the understanding they would be following the rules to stop the spread of coronavirus.

Mr Jackson says he made it clear no extra guests were allowed without his consent and that he has a front door camera to monitor the property.

But a few hours after check-in, dozens of teenagers started turning up dressed for a party and carrying booze.

At around 8.30pm, he messaged the woman and warned her she was breaching the house rules and Covid-19 restrictions.

He advised her to have everyone out by 9pm.

She told him, “they’ll be out by 10”, and claimed no party guests would be staying overnight.

But he made clear this was unacceptable and said he was calling police.

Despite being told she faced a £10,000 fine, she replied, "I will pay the money. I will pay for everyone”.

While waiting for police, he decided to go and shut down the party himself at 9.30pm.

He said this was because “people were continuing to turn up, it was getting worse and I was concerned about the property”.

The landlord added: “I turned up with a friend and cleared them out.

"We just turned the lights on and said 'everyone out'.

"They were all 18-year-olds and they all left, there were only a couple of smarmy comments.

"The police turned up about the same time and dealt with some of them outside."

He said when he first confronted the young woman she 'kicked and screamed' and said 'I'm not leaving I paid for this apartment’.

Eventually she left with the rest of the group.

Mr Jackson says around £3,000 worth of damage was caused including scuffed walls, holes in the floor and broken lights.

He has now submitted a claim for compensation to Airbnb.

Mr Jackson, who runs a number of Airbnbs via his business the Jacksonheim Property Group, said: “I think she was pretty rich – apparently she was telling everyone at the party 'don't worry, whatever comes our way I'll just pay for it’.

"As Airbnb landlords this is the last thing we want.

"It's obviously detrimental to the business, the apartment has to come off for a week or so while I undertake repairs.

"I think there is going to be an increase in this type of guest because of what's going on in the world."

Police are investigating a complaint of criminal damage.

It is not clear if the organiser will also be pursued any further for allegedly breaching coronavirus rules.

Greater Manchester Police said: "Shortly after midnight on 28 October 2020, officers were called to a report of criminal damage at a property on Malta Street in Manchester.

"Furniture was damaged.

"Those inside the property had dispersed before officers arrived at the scene."

The incident happened a few days after police officers shut an Airbnb party in Manchester city centre, where they found 50 people there, a DJ, bouncers and a buffet.

The organiser was fined £10,000.
