Seven people have been killed and another wounded in a day of violence in Mexico yesterday (October 24).

The attacks took place in central Mexico, around the towns of Fresnillo and Calera in the Zacatecas region.

The spate of violence has included two dead in the Barrio Alto neighbourhood and another in a convenience store,Borderland Beatreports.

One death in Fresnillo was reported in an industrial neighbourhood outside of a Coca-Cola factory on Prolongación Sonora.

The victim had been on a motorbike when he came under attack from people in a pickup truck.

Nearby, in the La Joya neighbourhood, a body was then found wrapped in carpet inside a house.

Then, in the afternoon two men on Ebano Street were shot while in a grey Mazda near the Mercado Oriente.

They were both fired upon causing their car to crash into a lampost, which fell over in the collision.

During the gunfire they also crashed into three more cars – one of the victims passed away from injuries sustained during events while the other is understood to have been taken to hospital.

Around three hours later a man was killed at a construction site on Segunda del Mezquite Street.

Police were called after neighbours heard gunfire but were too late to save the man after they struggled to identify the exact location of the shooting.

Then, a man was shot in the same neighbourhood, on Fray Servando Teresa de Mier Street.

The young man was killed after his home was forcefully entered by armed men.

Another body was found on a road near the Ramón López Velarde community, wrapped in a blanket.

Finally, a man in VW car was attacked in Río Frío on 5 de Mayo Street to complete the terrifying day of violence.

It is not currently known if the killings are related.
