10-year-old flubs beginning of Mariah Carey hit, and totally redeems himself on 'AGT'

The America’s Got Talent semifinals had a little trouble getting started Tuesday, when 10-year-old singer, Peter Rosalita, missed the intro to the classic song “Without You,” made popular in the '90s by Mariah Carey. When the piano music began he seemed to have trouble hearing it over the crowd noise. But the young talent remained calm and knew exactly what to do.

“Hello? Wait, can you repeat please?” Rosalita said with a smile. Sorry. Sorry guys.”

Once he was able to get going again, Rosalita knocked his performance out of the park. Which is impressive given that the song, a power ballad originally written by Badfinger in 1970, has been recorded by over 180 artists, with Carey’s version being one of the most popular. And he received plenty of love from viewers on Twitter after his solid recovery.

When the little guy takes control of the stage and requests for the song to be restarted and then kills it!#Peter

The judges, who gave Rosalita a standing ovation after his performance, were equally impressed with the maturity he showed.

“What happened at the beginning was amazing,” Sofia Vergara said. “To me, it showed the command you have on the stage. You didn't miss a beat.”

Even Simon Cowell, who has made a career picking apart the faults and flubs of performers, had nothing but positive things to say about Rosalita.

“The fact that you knew you missed the intro, you took control on a live show and went, ‘you know what, let's start again,’” Cowell said. “I'm thinking, ‘good for you.’ Then you delivered that amazing vocal.”

America’s Got Talent airs Tuesdays and Wednesdays at 8:00 p.m. on NBC.
