Delegates at this year’s COP26 in Glasgow are understood to be fuming at the SNP’s organisation of the conference. Nicola Sturgeon was confronted on the “poor organisation” of the event, with the world’s eyes focused on Scotland this week. Sky News’ Kay Burley noted that “a lot of the delegates were saying this was the worst organised event ever”.
During an interview this morning, Ms Burley said: “I was chatting to a journalist from The Guardian.
“He said a lot of the delegates were saying this was the worst organised event ever.
“It seems a bit mean to say that.”
Ms Sturgeon tried to bat away the criticism, insisting “that is not what people are saying to me”.

The Scottish First Minister continued: “In fact, on the contrary, I’ve had people come up to me to say it’s the best-organised Cop ever.”
Also in her interview, Ms Sturgeon said she “wouldn’t bet” on today being the last day of the conference as delegates try to hammer out a deal.
There had been fears of chaos leading up to the event, with threats of public sector strikes and plagues of rodents wreaking havoc in Glasgow.
Fortunately for the SNP, her Government managed to resolve a long-running dispute between Scotland’s rail operator, ScotRail, and a number of trade unions with days to spare.

The deal averted train strikes which would have lasted for the duration of the summit.
Environmental campaigners have criticised Ms Sturgeon for using COP26 as a photo opportunity, but not committing to strong enough climate targets.
Friends of the Earth said the First Minister “was keen to use the language of climate justice and be photographed with Greta Thunberg”.

Richard Dixon, the group’s director, claimed Ms Sturgeon’s words did not match her actions, as he pointed out that the SNP had failed to set targets to phase out fossil fuels.
This comes as a new draft agreement at the COP26 climate summit in Glasgow has emerged this morning.
The draft has softened government requirements to reduce fossil fuel and coal use.
But it has stronger language about helping and paying poorer countries to fight climate change.
