Nicola Sturgeon was grilled on her decision to allow a slight easing of Scotland’s lockdown with opposition MSPs questioning the timing of the move. It comes as thousands of Rangers football fans descended on Glasgow’s George Square on Sunday evening to celebrate the club’s title win. Scottish Liberal Democrat Leader Willie Rennie left the First Minister scrambling for words after challenging the decision to lift restrictions in light of the mass rule breach.
Mr Rennie said: “The breach by Rangers fans at the weekend was the biggest gathering this country has seen for months,
“The chief medical officer said yesterday it could result in an increase in the spread of the virus.
“But the First Minister makes no direct reference to that in her statement today, as it bringing forward the relaxation of the rules.
He asked: “Does that then mean that the First Minister is now confident there won’t be an increase in cases in Glasgow as a result?”
