First Minister Nicola Sturgeon held a press briefing on Friday afternoon to explain Scotland’s progress against coronavirus. Listeners were left confused however when Ms Sturgeon announced she would no longer be using the term “Indian variant” and instead would say April 02 variant. This caused more confusion as the First Minister went on to say the Kent variant moments later.
Listeners quickly took to social media to voice their surprise and befuddlement at the First Minister’s choice to change her language.
