Angus Robertson complained about the UK’s departure from the EU during talks with Scottish Secretary Alister Jack. The Constitution and External Affairs Secretary claimed the “dislocation, damage and delays caused by Brexit “should be immediately addressed by the UK Government.
As well as this, Mr Robertson also raised the impacts felt over a shortage of labour and skills across a range of sectors, including care workers, HGV drivers, and the food and drink sector because of the UK’s departure from the EU.
He said: “Scotland voted against Brexit and wants no part of this disarray, but still we are living with the consequences of the UK Government’s hard Brexit deal.
“The UK Government should listen very carefully to the Scottish Government’s concerns, and the concerns of this nation’s industries – and address them.”
Alongside this, Scotland’s Rural Affairs Secretary Mairi Gougeon also wrote a letter to Lord Frost over a decision to delay checks on goods arriving from the EU.
Referring to the decision, the SNP-led Scottish Government minister claimed the UK Government had “no respect” for the devolved nations when making the decisions which she said were made without consultation with Edinburgh.
Ms Gougeon also added in her letter: “The difficulties which have led to this decision are due entirely to the United Kingdom Government’s reckless approach to exit from the European Union, which is being shown, repeatedly, to have been done without responsible planning or coordination.”
When asked how effectively the Scottish Government was managing their relationship with their UK counterparts, opposition parties urged Nationalist politicians to listen to the people of Scotland and not make arguments entirely political.
Former Labour MP Pamela Nash, now chief executive of Scotland in Union, said: “The people of Scotland want their governments to work better together.
“The SNP has no interest in devolution and would rather pick fights and concoct grievances than work in the best interests of our citizens.
“Both of our governments should be utilising devolution and showing how it can work for everyone.”
Scottish Liberal Democrat MSP Willie Rennie, said: “It’s a real tragedy for Scotland that Nicola Sturgeon and Boris Johnson are always at one another’s throats.
“There are huge challenges ahead like the climate crisis which will require the attention of everybody but Nicola Sturgeon cares more about point-scoring than she does tackling these huge challenges.”

Donald Cameron MSP, Scottish Tories Constitution spokesperson said: “Nicola Sturgeon distracts from her own government’s failings by regularly blaming the UK Government.
“She prefers to ramp up her grievance machine, rather than building constructive relationships with UK Ministers.”
But a Scottish Government source hit back and said: “The Tories’ hard Brexit has taken us out of the single market against our will.
“That has dealt a massive blow to exporters, including Scotland’s iconic food and drink sector.
“That is the reality of reckless Tory policies.”
