Businessman Charlie Mullins has been vocal in his support for the right of employers to see that their employees get the coronavirus vaccine. The Pimlico Plumbers founder has previously revealed his company’s lawyers have drafted new employment contracts stating his workers must have the vaccine. Mr Mullins has since doubled down on the policy despite coming under criticism and has insisted he would be willing to go to court to defend “no jab no job” work conditions.

Mr Mullins told Express.co.uk: “Of course they are going to be a few, I’m going to call them busybodies, pests, that are going to want to go pull it apart.

“I prepared to go to court and have all my legal team who represent us on the basis that we are protecting our staff.

“So look the long and short of it is if you’re not forcing anybody, it is their choice and you know it is a health and safety issue.

“The deal is you’ve got to protect your staff and that is what we are doing.”

The entrepreneur continued: “I’m sure there will be some challenges, I’d rather there wasn’t.

“But at the end of the day, we have put our head above the parapet wall,

“If we are wrong they need to prove it.”

He added: “We have got to keep referring back to life and death.”

The Pimlico Plumbers boss said he believed only a small “minority” of current employees would be unwilling to sign up to the new contract terms.

He said: “We don’t plan to sack anybody but at the same time but by the same token I think there will be a lot of unhappy staff,

“Who are not prepared to work with people who have not had it.”

He insisted that businesses bringing in mandatory vaccination policies “was always going to happen.”

His remarks came as one of the UK’s biggest care home companies announced that new workers would be required to get vaccinated.

Care UK, which runs 120 care homes, announced last Thursday that “everyone applying for a role which requires them to go into a home will be expected to have been vaccinated before they start work.”

A spokesman told the Evening Standard, “For new recruits, we now ask at both the application and interview stage whether they have had, or would be willing to have, the vaccination.”

The spokesman claimed that Care UK would make applicants “fully aware” from the outset that vaccination is a mandatory requirement “to keep residents in our homes safe.”
