Nigel Farage warns Americans that the banks are coming after their accounts too
Nigel Farage talking to Camilla Tominey about bank account closures
Nigel Farage has issued a warning to the US that the banks across the Atlantic will be following the same tactics as their British counterparts and closing accounts for political reasons.
Having lifted the lid on the scandal in Britain, Mr Farage pointed to the case of the prominent medic Dr Joseph Mercola who is facing being “de-banked” by Chase Bank in America for questioning US government policies on Covid lockdowns and vaccine mandates.
The concerns about woke corporate culture infecting US life come after Mr Farage launched his accountclosed.org website and campaign after revealing that around 1,000 accounts in Britain are being closed a day by banks for political reasons and because of a harsh interpretation of money laundering rules.
Tonight it has been reported that Coutts bank, part of the NatWest group, is in talks with Mr Farage about not closing his accounts.
But the row has claimed the scalps of NatWest chief executive Dame Alison Rose, who leaked private financial information about Mr Farage to the BBC, and Coutts chief executive Peter Flavel.

Speaking exclusively, to the Daily Express, Mr Farage said: “The issue of de-banking in the UK that has been exposed over the last few weeks week is nothing short of a national scandal.
“My email inbox has been inundated with tales of woe from members of the public who feel helpless and are in genuine distress over the way they’ve been treated by the big banks.
“The backlash to all of this is starting to make the banking industry run scared — and so it should. Banks should go back to providing banking services, and not become moral arbiters for the ‘accepted’ political and social ‘values’ of the day.
“I have launched a new campaign in Britain, accountclosed.org, which will seek to find out the true extent and scale of the problem, and find out which financial institutions are the worst offenders.
“We can then use this information to lobby parliament and affect real change.”

With a stark warning to the US, he added: “In America, the case of Dr Mercola and others is extreme and alarming. He is entitled to his views on medicine and the Covid-19 vaccine without having his bank account taken away.
“He says they have even done the same to his staff, and members of their family, too.
“This clear overreach clearly has to stop, on both sides of the pond. Over the last few days it has made me wonder — do we need a US campaign too?”
Criticism of lockdown and forced vaccines were among the items collated in a 36-page document about Mr Farage when they decided on political grounds to cancel his accounts.
Dame Alison had briefed that he had fallen below the wealth threshold but NatWest has since been forced to admit that a major part of the reason was political.
Since Mr Farage went public other political parties such as Laurence Fox’s Reclaim and Gina Miller’s pro-EU Truth and Fair Party, have revealed they were de-banked.
A number of politicians have been caught up in the scandal including Energy Secretary Grant Shapps.
