The Brexit Party leader said the Republican firebrand is “poised to turn disaster into triumph” after he was struck down by coronavirus and forced to spend three days in hospital with just weeks to go before his US presidential showdown with Democrat Joe Biden. Mr Farage said he was “worried” about Mr Trump’s presidential campaign ahead of the November 3 elections after he and his wife Melania Trump were struck with the invisible killer disease.
But the politician outlined two simple ways the US leader could turn things around despite his rival Mr Biden believing “COVID-19 to be his winning issue”.
Mr Farage said: “There are strong hints already that, health-allowing, Trump will use his illness to take control of the COVID agenda.
“I also anticipate that Trump will once again condemn China for causing this global crisis and point out that Biden has encouraged the Chinese regime in every way over decades of his political career.”
The Republican president, running for re-election against Mr Biden in the November election, was admitted to hospital on Friday after being diagnosed with the disease.
This morning he returned to the White House and urged Americans not to fear the COVID-19 disease that has killed more than 209,000 people in the country and put him in hospital.
Mr Farage said of Mr Trump in the Daily Telegraph: “His audacious style of leadership is exactly why Trump’s supporters love him, however, and I believe this episode shows that Trump could be poised to turn disaster into triumph.
“Health apart, however, I was very worried about his campaign when I heard about his diagnosis.
“His great strength is travelling America to appear at rally after rally.
“He does this brilliantly, but it seems unlikely he will be back on the road for at least two of the next four weeks.

“This in turn means that COVID-19 is now likely to dominate the campaign rather than law and order or the economy, which are his strongest suits.”
Mr Trump has faced a fresh backlash for removing his mask when he returned to the White House.
The US leader arrived at the White House on Monday in a made-for-television spectacle in which he descended from his Marine One helicopter wearing a white surgical mask only to remove it as he posed, saluting and waving, on the mansion’s South Portico.
Speaking in a video after his return from the Walter Reed Medical Center military hospital outside Washington where he was treated for the invisible killer disease, he said: “Don’t let it dominate you. Don’t be afraid of it.
“I’m better, and maybe I’m immune – I don’t know.”
Flanked by American flags and with the Washington Monument in the background, he added: “Get out there. Be careful.”
