Meet Jeremy Corbyn’s family – Labour leader’s love life and his ‘hot’ sons
Jeremy Corbyn is eyeing up the keys to Number 10, and if he gets his way on December 12 he will be packing up his terrace home and moving his bags into Downing Street.
Unlike other leaders' spouses, Corbyn's third wife Laura Alvarez tends to stay out of the spotlight and isn't always by his side at the big campaign events.
The Labour leader has led a slightly complicated love life over the years, including a relationship with fellow politician Diane Abbott who now serves as his Shadow Home Secretary.
He famously split from his second wife Claudia Bracchitta, the mother of his three children, after they disagreed about which school to send their eldest son to.
Ahead of the election on Thursday, we've looked at the supportive family standing around the man hoping to show Boris Johnson the door.
Benjamin Corbyn
Jezza's oldest son, who is better known as Ben, didn't follow in his father's footsteps and has instead carved an impressive career for himself in football.
The 32-year-old is a coach in the Youth Development team at Watford Football Club.
According to his Twitter account he is also a proud dad.
His bio reads: "Beauty comes first, winning is secondary. What matters is Joy."
Seb Corbyn
Unlike his big brother, Seb definitely caught the politics bug and has a number of impressive roles within the Labour Party.
The 27-year-old Cambridge graduate worked on his father's election campaign in 2015.
There were also numerous claims he was going to stand as an MP in 2017, going after Steve Rotheram's seat in Liverpool, however they were untrue.
He has also worked as chief of staff to the shadow chancellor John McDonnell, a role the politician insists he gave on merit alone.
During an interview with Mumsnet users last year, one parent wrote: "Opportunities should be based on what you know, not who you (or your parents) know".
After saying that he doesn't comment on staff hiring, McDonnell replied: "But in this instance let me make it clear that Seb Corbyn was appointed to my parliamentary office when I was a backbencher and has worked for me for several years and prior to me becoming shadow chancellor.
"He was appointed on merit and I regret the level of abuse he's received just because of his surname."
Seb hit the headlines during his student days when his Tinder profile was leaked, including photos of him posing with actress Judi Dench.
Thomas Corbyn
The youngest of the Corbyn boys also stayed well clear of politics, and is in the process of setting up his own shop and cafe selling products made from Hemp – a strain of the Cannabis sativa plant.
It is used in construction, medicine and clothing and is legal.
According to the website the National Hemp Service, which is in his dad's Islington constituency, the new site is "coming soon".
Thomas, known as Tommy, told the Islington Gazette that the Labour leader is supportive of his business, which he has set up with Chloe Kerslake-Smith
He told the newspaper: "We want to champion hemp as a material for all different things. We think cannabis has been demonised for a long time and hemp can be a good gateway into finding out more about it – we don't want people to be afraid of the plants.
"Most people don't know about hemp. It's not a normal thing in this country unfortunately, we are going to change that.
"Hemp offers a huge amount of solutions to the problems of today, in terms of agriculture, environment, even economically, if we all start growing hemp it would help."
Tommy a big hit with women on social media, with many commenting on his looks and comparing him to the actor Elijah Wood thanks to his blue eyes and chiselled jaw.
Jane Chapman – first wife
Corbyn married fellow Labour councillor and university lecturer Jane in 1974.
The pair divorced just five years later, with her claiming his "joyless" approach to life wrecked their marriage and saying he cared more about campaigning than her needs.
She voted for his rival Owen Smith in the Labour leadership election in 2016, saying she had been "so saddened and really upset" by some of his views.
She told the Telegraph : "My heart and soul is still very much with what he stands for and those experiences…it was the first romance … but then another part of me says things have moved on.
"He hasn't actually changed much politically … but that begs the question, are the politics of the 1970s relevant to the 21st century and post-Brexit Britain?"
Diane Abbott
After his marriage ended Corbyn had a year-long relationship with his Labour colleague Diane Abbott in 1979.
At the time, 26-year-old Diane was was working as a race relations officer for the National Council of Civil Liberties.
Their relationship reportedly broke down for the same reason his first marriage fell apart – politics always came first.
While their romantic relationship didn't last long, they remain close friends and a professional alliance.
Claudia Bracchitta – second wife
Jeremy met Claudia, granddaughter of famous diplomat Ricardo Bracchitta, in 1987.
The couple welcomed three sons during their 12 year marriage.
Claudia and Jeremy split after a disagreement about where to sent their children to school in 1999.
She wanted Ben, their eldest, to attend a grammar but the politician didn't agree as it would go against his politics – despite attending one himself.
She refused to send Benjamin to an inner-city comprehensive and eventually the marriage couldn't stand the strain.
The MP's ex-wife won the debate, with Benjamin going to Queen Elizabeth's grammar school in Barnet – nine miles from their home in Islington.
Speaking at the time, Claudia said: "I am concerned Jeremy has been portrayed as a hard-left MP who couldn't care about his children, which is absolutely not the truth. I was put across as the pushy parent who wanted a grammar school place for her son and nothing else.
"It isn't a story about making a choice but about having no choice. I couldn't send Ben to a school where I knew he wouldn't be happy.
"Whereas Jeremy was able to make one sort of decision, I wasn't. It's a position you are pushed into rather than one you choose."
Speaking in an interview with the Guardian in 2015, Corbyn said they still "get on well".
Laura Alvarez – third and current wife
Corbyn is now married to Laura Alvarez, and his third wife tends to avoid the spotlight wherever possible.
The couple met in 1999 when Ms Alvarez’s older sister Marcela was living in London with her daughter Jasmin, then seven.
Her estranged husband abducted their little girl and fled to America.
She went to the late Labour MP Tony Benn for help and was introduced to Corbyn who tried to help. He met and spoke to police officers on her behalf.
His wife to be, Laura, had flown to England from her home in Mexico City to be with her sister, and accompanied her to a fundraiser in a Finsbury Park pub attended by Corbyn.
After Marcela's introduction the couple fell in love and maintained a long distance relationship after she returned to Mexico where she worked at a bank based in Mexico City dedicated to helping poor rural communities.
The couple married at the Hacienda Panoaya, an estate with its own chapel, in 2012.
They live in his terrace house in Finsbury Park, North London, which would cost around £1million to buy, with a cat called 'El Gato'.
Laura is known to share her husband's political beliefs and the couple enjoy nights in eating vegetarian food grown on his allotment, drinking the odd glass of wine and watching EastEnders.
In a rare interview in a fly-on-the-wall documentary Ms Álvarez described Corbyn as "not very good at house work but he is a good politician".
She also spoke of her pride after Mr Corbyn’s dress sense was criticised by David Cameron who told him at PMQS in February 2016 to "put on a proper suit, do up your tie and sing the national anthem".
It has been reported Labour has rejected an offer for Mr Corbyn to appear alongside his wife on the BBC’s One Show sofa insisting that the Corbyn family is out of bounds during the campaign.
