Vaccine issues in Germany blamed on EU by Helen Dale

Political commentator Helen Dale commended Britain for its ability to maintain a successful Covid vaccine rollout. While speaking to TalkRadio with Mike Graham she insisted the UK had proven itself was more than competent. Regarding failures in a vaccine rollout for EU member states, she said it was the fault of the European Union.

She defended German Chancellor Angela Merkel and Germany and said the true blame lied with the bloc.

Ms Dale said: “Britain has started to find its historic state capacity.

“This was the civilisation that has this enormous empire and so on and you can’t do those things unless you are competent.

“It started to find this state capacity first with the Brexit deal and Lord Frost did a terrific job with that and now with the vaccine rollout.

“Although I will say if the NHS was designed for anything it was for a vaccine rollout.

“It really is doing a military precise job.”

Mr Graham admitted to being presently surprised at the UK’s ability to have such a good vaccine rollout plan.

He also reflected on the German newspaper Bild’s admission it was jealous of the UK’s rollout.

Mr Graham said: “I, like most people, have been very pleasantly surprised that we have in fact proven ourselves to be world-beating.

“I was looking at the German newspaper Bild today which was saying it was envious of us.

“This is because they have only vaccinated 4 percent of their population.

“They are now worried there might be another spike because they haven’t got enough vaccines to go around.”

Ms Dale replied: “In that case, you genuinely can’t blame the Germans or Angela Merkel.

“You genuinely have to ship that one home to the European Union.”

The European Union has faced considerable criticism from EU member state leaders for their failures during the coronavirus crisis.

Earlier this month European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen admitted that the EU had failed to deliver and had been slow during the pandemic.
