Donald Trump 2020 re-election video deleted for using Dark Knight Rises music

Donald Trump has been forced to take down his 2020 re-election campaign video after keen-eyed fans noticed it used music from the 2012 film The Dark Knight Rises .

The US president shared the bizarre montage video on Twitter yesterday afternoon with the caption "Make America Great Again!" and within three hours, it had already amassed over 1 million views.

But by last night, the video had been taken down.

Warner Bros. Pictures is said to have filed a copyright infringement complaint to have the video taken down as it uses part of the score from the 2012 Batman film, according to BuzzFeed News .

In a statement on Tuesday evening, Warner Bros. confirmed it was taking action to remove the video.

A spokesperson told the site: "The use of Warner Bros.’ score from The Dark Knight Rises in the campaign video was unauthorised.

"We are working through the appropriate legal channels to have it removed.”

And by last night, a message had replaced Trump's tweet confirming that the video was no longer available "in response to a report by the copyright owner".

The two-minute clip, which appears to have been lifted from YouTube and posted on reddit thread /r/The_Donald , features key Democrats such as Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton and contrasts them with pictures of Trump from his first two years in office.

Some of the images include his meetings with North Korean dictator Kim Jong-un and Brazil's far-right president Jair Bolsonaro, as dramatic music places in the background.

Large text then reportedly appears on the video that reads: "First they ignore you, then they laugh at you, then they call you racist."

Immediately after Trump shared the video, fans quickly pointed out that the music was, in fact, from Hans Zimmer's score for the film and even identified the track "Why Do We Fall".

It's not the first time Trump has been accused of lifting material.

Last year, HBO warned the White House to stop using Game of Thrones-style memes to promote sanctions on Iran.

Trump ignored that warning and instead reportedly brought a printed-out version to a meeting on border security to promote the sanctions.

Mirror Online has approached the White House for comment.
