TalkRADIO host Mark Dolan was joined by former Labour advisor James Mills and Conservative commentator Emily Carver to debate whether Jeremy Corbyn would have handled the pandemic better than the Tory government. But things quickly turned into chaos as all three participants began energetically shouting over each other as they tried to be desperately heard. The hilarious interaction was taken in good spirits but saw Mr Mills desperately defend his former boss who says would have done all he could to tackle COVID-19.

Speaking on TalkRADIO, Ms Carver believed a Labour government under Mr Corbyn would not have “taken advantage” of the private sector in procuring medical equipment.

She added she found it hard to believe Mr Mills could argue Mr Corbyn would have been better leading the pandemic after he has experience working with him.

A laughing Mr Mills held up notes to the camera which could not be seen by radio listeners which read “not true” in response to Ms Carver’s argument.

He said he did it because he “gets cut off” and continued: “According to one of the heads of the civil servants, said [our medical equipment] could have been procured within the EU and it wouldn’t have made any difference.”

But the debate began to elevate in a shouting match as Ms Carver tried to respond with host Mr Dolan attempting to mediate the conversation.

Mr Dolan screamed down the microphone: “Emily, take him down to Chinatown!”

Ms Carver agreed with the point and said the UK could have opted out of the joint procurement programme in the EU but a Labour government would have been less willing to abandon the EU in light of the European Union supporters within their ranks.

Mr Mills responded: “I know Jeremy, the idea he would have listened to the EU saying he couldn’t do something and gone outside EU and state aid rule is for the birds.

Jeremy Corbyn grilled on whether Keir Starmer should step down

“I’ll tell you right now, whatever people want to say about the man, if the issue for him was saving lives and it was about a public health response he wouldn’t have cared what the Labour Party thinks let alone what the EU thinks.”

Former Downing Street Chief Aide Dominic Cummings told a committee that any electoral system which made people choose between Boris Johnson and Jeremy Corbyn had gone “badly wrong”.

Mr Corbyn has also pushed for Labour Leader Sir Keir Starmer to not “join forces” with the Conservatives to tackle the pandemic.

The former leader has also pushed for a much higher pay increase for nurses and appears to have aligned with former Shadow Chancellor John McDonnell who is pushing for a 15 percent increase.

Despite his criticisms of the Government, Mr Corbyn led one of the worst electoral defeats in Labour history after his party lost 59 seats in the 2019 general election.

Mr Corbyn was also found breaking lockdown rules last September by the Sun Newspaper after a dinner party picture was leaked which had nine attendees.

Fines were introduced to enforce the rule of six which prevented groups larger than six meeting indoors.
