Brexit LIVE: Dan Hannan FURY at Labour plot – ‘It’s not hard Brexit that scares them…’

The prominent Brexiteer said the chief Remainers plot to block Brexit will give “no incentive for the EU to negotiate” a new deal. Mr Hannan tweeted: “The moment Brussels starts to look at modifying the deal, Labour and the Lib Dems revive their plan to block Brexit, so taking away any incentive for the EU to negotiate

“It’s not the prospect of a harsh Brexit that scares them; it’s the prospect of a successful Brexit.”

His remarks come after arch Remainers met on Tuesday to agree on a strategy to stop Boris Johnson from taking the UK out of the EU without a deal.

Labour leader Jeremy Corbyn called the meeting as Remainers rush to stop a no deal exit before the looming October 31 deadline.

A Downing Street source accused them of “seeking to sabotage the UK’s position” in in talks with the EU.

Meanwhile, EU chief Jean-Claude Juncker told Mr Johnson on Tuesday he would look at any concrete proposals the prime minister had to renegotiate the Northern Irish backstop but underlined that the bloc’s support or Ireland was steadfast.

In a statement after the pair had a 20-minute phone call, the Commission said: “President Juncker repeated his willingness to work constructively with Prime Minister Johnson and to look at any concrete proposals he may have, as long as they are compatible with the Withdrawal Agreement.

“President Juncker underlined the EU27’s support for Ireland is steadfast and that the EU will continue to be very attentive to Ireland’s interests.”

The Prime Minister has tasked his chief negotiator David Frost to travel to Brussels today for high-level talks with members of Michel Barnier’s Article 50 task force.
