The new Conservative leader beat Jeremy Hunt with 92,153 votes to his rival's 46,656.

Boris, whose full name is Alexander Boris de Pfeffel Johnson, has been a Member of Parliament (MP) for Uxbridge and South Ruislip since 2015.

His salary for being an MP is £79,468 a year, the same as any MP – as of April 2019.

MPs are also able to claim allowances to cover the costs of running an office and employing staff, and maintaining a constituency residence and residence in London.

Boris will also receive an additional salary because he is Prime Minister.

The total salary of the Prime Minister is £149,440, according to the Daily Mail.

He also gets other benefits, such as the PM flat at 10 Downing Street, other official residences, and chauffeur-driven transport.

He resigned from this job when he became the Foreign Secretary, but was rehired when he left the Cabinet.
