Boris Johnson ridiculed for the controversial way he makes tea
If there's one thing that the British public won't tolerate, it's a poorly-made cuppa.
And the Prime Minister seems to have fallen foul of the purists in a video posted on social media.
Boris Johnson was seen adding milk to the brew while the bag was still in the mug.
That really didn't go down well when the campaign clip was shared on Facebook.
It was branded "a sin" by some, while one commenter said: "Oooo I could never vote for someone who does that."
Another wrote: "You're supposed to take the teabag out you utter clown."
And one tea lover vented: "Anyone else annoyed by the fact that he put the milk in whilst the tea bag was still in the mug?"
Those ired by the Prime Minister's actions were firmly of the view that the bag should come out of the cup before the milk goes in.
But as with most major debates, there were plenty putting forward an alternative opinion.
One wrote: "My milk goes in before the tea bag, so this was perfectly acceptable to me."
Writing on Twitter, Mr Johnson defended his controversial approach.
He wrote: "For those who’ve noticed, this really is how I make my tea. It lets it brew and makes it stronger."
It's been a tough day for the Prime Minister, who has been heckled twice during a visit to flood-hit Yorkshire.
Just hours after a woman refused to speak to him , a heckler at a community centre in Fishlake shouted: “Everyone’s in poverty – the whole country’s a joke.”
In a clip shared by LBC , the man continues: “F*** the government, f*** the council – people are living on the streets, kids are living in the streets, nobody gives a f*** about them. Sort it out.”
As he walks away he shouts: “Biggest thieves in the country them.”
