The Prime Minister will also try to bolster US ties with the UK after the historic AUKUS project was announced between the two countries and Australia. But it might not be easy after House of Representative Speaker Nancy Pelosi first a warning shoe over the Brexit protocol saying there would be no trade deal if tensions between Britain and the EU damage peace in Northern Ireland.
The trip comes just ahead of the COP26 climate change conference which the UK will host in Glasgow.
But the Prime Minister said there is only a “six out of ten” chance of getting other countries to sign up to financial and environmental targets ahead of the conference in November.
Boris Johnson is also expected to push President Biden on the Afghanistan crisis and the potential of reopening UK to US travel.

Foreign Secretary joins trip
The PM will also be joined by newly appointed Foreign Secretary Liz Truss who attends her first official visit in her new role.
Speaking about the four-day visit Truss said: ” I’m delighted my first international visit as Foreign Secretary is to the United States – the UK’s closest and most important partner.
“At the UN General Assembly, I look forward to convening global leaders to tackle the major issues of the day and projecting a positive, outward-looking Global Britain that delivers for people across the United Kingdom.”
