The senior journalist has spearheaded the political coverage at the national broadcaster through some of the most turbulent years in British political history.
Ms Kuenssberg became a prominent face on TVs across the country throughout the Brexit referendum, EU negotiations and fallout since leaving the bloc, as well as during the Covid pandemic.
Rumours about her future have been rife in Westminster for a number of months, with heavy speculation she was eager to move into a new role at the broadcaster.
Confirming a move this afternoon, she wrote on social media: “After nearly seven years, in April I’m moving on from best daily reporting job and the most wonderful team in the business.
“It’s been an honour and an amazing ride – more to come in 2022.”
