An audience member was allowed to squeeze in a light-hearted question towards the conclusion of BBC Question Time and asked the panel which politician they thought would make a good James Bond and Bond villain. Host Fiona Bruce turned to Wes Streeting for a good James Bond who pointed his finger towards Labour leader Sir Keir Starmer which left audience members groaning at the response. Mr Streeting acknowledged it was a “cringe” answer before adding Environment Secretary George Eustice, who was also on the panel, would make a good villain.

Speaking on Question Time, Mr Streeting was asked for his answer to the all-important question.

He told the show: “Well, look it’s been Labour Party conference this week and I’ve seen in Keir Starmer the steely qualities needed for the next Bond.

“[As a member of the shadow cabinet] you expect me to come out with that cringe-worthy line.

“But as for Bond villains, there’s no shortage! I mean George you would make a good Bond villain actually.
