Corbyn responds to Starmer saying he was never a 'friend'
Jeremy Corbyn has been voted as the most popular current or former Labour Party leader in a new YouGov survey. The Labour Leader from 2015 to 2020 was the favourite, receiving a 30 percent approval rating.
Current Leader of the Opposition Sir Keir Starmer is just one point behind, with 29 percent in the poll conducted between April and June 2023, questioning 1,178 Britons.
While former Prime Minister Gordon Brown came in third with a 27 percent approval rating. This was followed by his predecessor Tony Blair with 24 percent and Ed Miliband was close behind with 21 percent approval.
Commenting about the result on Twitter, Labour MP and Corbyn ally Diane Abbott said the outcome was “remarkable”.
She said: “Jeremy Corbyn is now the most popular current or former Labour leader. Remarkable given the unremitting hostility to him of the Labour Party establishment.”
