Oil Prices Spike Amid Reports Of Oil Supply Reeducations

Crude oil prices moved sharply higher during trading on Monday, with the price of crude oil for October delivery surging $3.95 to $97.01 a barrel.

The spike by the price of crude oil came amid indications OPEC and their allies plan to decrease production assuming a deal with Iran that lifts sanctions.

While the price of crude oil has come well off its recent highs, energy prices have been blamed in part for the decades-high inflation.

Oil producing nations seem intent on keeping the price of crude oil at currently elevated levels.

Gold Finishes Lackluster Session Little Changed

The price of gold ended Monday’s trading little changed amid signs of uncertainty in the markets for the precious metal.

Gold for December delivery fluctuated before ending the session down $0.10 at $1,749.70 an ounce.

Traders seemed uncertain about how to response to recent indications that the Federal Reserve plans to continue aggressively raising interest rates and keep rates at a high level for an extended summer.

A lack of major U.S. economic data may also have kept traders on the sidelines ahead of the release of the closely watched monthly jobs report later this week.
