LIC-owned IDBI Bank exits PCA framework

‘Capital, NPA, leverage within limits’

The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) on Wednesday removed IDBI Bank from its enhanced regulatory supervision, or the Prompt Corrective Action (PCA) framework, after almost four years, on improved financial performance.

The RBI had placed IDBI Bank under the framework in May 2017, after it had breached the thresholds for capital adequacy, asset quality (net NPAs were over 13% in March 2017), return on assets and leverage ratio.

It was noted as per published results for the quarter ended December 31, the bank was not in breach of the PCA parameters on regulatory capital, net NPA and leverage ratio, the RBI said.

“Taking all the above into consideration, it has been decided that IDBI Bank Ltd. be taken out of the PCA framework,” the RBI said.

The LIC-owned IDBI Bank had reported a standalone net profit of ₹378 crore for the December quarter.

The lender had reported a net loss of ₹5,763 crore a year earlier.

XFL puts plans for 2022 season on hold while exploring potential partnership with CFL

The Canadian Football League and the XFL are exploring a potential partnership as they seek to return to play in the aftermath of the COVID-19 pandemic.

The leagues announced Wednesday that they "have agreed to work together to identify opportunities for the leagues to collaborate, innovate, and grow the game of football," though they did not offer specifics about what such a patnership would entail.

The XFL also said it is putting its plans for the 2022 season on hold as discussions continue. The CFL canceled its 2020 season but is hoping to return to play June 10.

"It's clear through our early conversations that we share a passion for football, an expansive sense of possibility, and a deep desire to create more opportunity for players and fans across North America and around the world," XFL president and CEO Jeffrey Pollack said in a statement.

"Blending the CFL’s rich heritage with our fresh thinking, and the unique reach and experience of our ownership, could be transformative for the game."

WNBA star Maya Moore to sit out 2021 season to focus on family, criminal justice reform

WNBA star Maya Moore announced that she will continue to be away from the league and will sit out the 2021 season.

Moore, who hasn't played in the league since the 2018 campaign, has devoted the years since toward fighting for criminal justice reform and was the catalyst to overturn the wrongful conviction of Jonathan Irons. He had served 23 years of a 50-year sentence after he was convicted on burglary and assault charges from an incident that took place in 1998.

Shortly after walking free from the Jefferson City (Missouri) Correctional Center last July, Irons and Moore married in September 2020.

"This journey has been quite wild, so I'm still trying to take that time to really get settled," Moore said Wednesday on Good Morning America. "We just got married, so I'm still planning on taking some rest and really just leaning in to this season of enjoying Jonathan and having this full year."

These are the safest cars you can buy in 2020

If you are in the market for a car, you are going to want to take a look at these top safety rated cars first.

Some of today’s pickup trucks are available with heated, cooled massaging seats, but one driver in Wisconsin prefers to rough it.

The Wisconsin State Patrol on Wednesday tweeted an image of the camping chair a driver was using in his Ram pickup.

The conventional seats had been stripped out of the unkempt cabin and the single collapsible chair placed behind the steering wheel.

The driver was pulled over and cited for an equipment violation after being spotted by a trooper on patrol.

The department included a link in its tweet to the section of the state vehicle standards requiring seats to be securely fastened and include head restraints in line with the product specifications from the year the vehicle was manufactured.

Police in Burlington, Canada, encountered a similar situation last year when they pulled over a Ford Edge with a folding chair for a driver’s seat.
