New York Yankees turn record-tying third triple play of season, this one a game-ender
The New York Yankees have found that good things come in threes.
The Yankees turned a triple play for a record-tying third time this season in dramatic fashion, capping off a 2-1 victory on Sunday against the Oakland Athletics.
New York closer Aroldis Chapman was called on to protect a one-run lead in the ninth inning, but he walked the first two batters he faced.
However, Chapman got A's catcher Sean Murphy to hit a hard ground ball to third baseman Gio Urshela, who stepped on the bag for the first out and started an around-the-horn triple play to end the game.

It was MLB's first game-ending triple play since the Philadelphia Phillies did it to the New York Mets on August 23, 2009.
Just three days earlier, the Yankees registered an unconventional triple play against the Toronto Blue Jays. Their first of the season was on May 21 against the Chicago White Sox.

Suns 120; Clippers 114: Phoenix’s Devin Booker and Deandre Ayton elevate game without Chris Paul in Game 1
PHOENIX – After spending a week to rest and prepare for their next playoff series, the Phoenix Suns finished with a 120-114 win against the Los Angeles Clippers on Sunday in Game 1 of the Western Conference Finals.
With All-Star guard Chris Paul remaining in the NBA’s health and safety protocols, the Suns showed once again they can adjust without him in the lineup. Just as the Suns showed in their six-game first-round series against the Los Angeles Lakers when Paul was limited by an injured right shoulder, their young players provided enough reinforcements.
Suns guard Devin Booker finished with a team-leading 40 points on 15-for-29 shooting, 13 rebounds, 11 assists). Suns center Deandre Ayton (20), forward Mikal Bridges (14), forward Jae Crowder (13), guard Cam Johnson (12) and guard Cameron Payne (11) also posted double figures. Those players helped the Suns sweep the Denver Nuggets in the second round.

In her last shot at trials, Simone Manuel qualifies for 50 free, headed to Tokyo Olympics
OMAHA, Neb. — Three days after revealing that she was suffering from overtraining, anxiety and depression throughout the spring, Simone Manuel qualified for the 2021 Tokyo Olympics by winning the women’s 50 freestyle Sunday night at the U.S. swimming trials.
Manuel, 24, won the event in 24.29 seconds, just 1/100th of a second ahead of Abbey Weitzeil, the winner of the 100 freestyle earlier in the trials.
“More than anything I’m relieved just to be back on the team,” Manuel said, “and having another opportunity to swim for Team USA is just a blessing.”
Manuel, the American record holder and reigning Olympic gold medalist in the 100 free and American record holder and reigning Olympic silver medalist in the 50 free, spoke Thursday night about the struggles that caused her to miss three weeks of training two months before the Olympic trials. She chose to reveal that she had been diagnosed with overtraining syndrome after failing to qualify for the 100 free final.
William Ackman’s Pershing Square To Buy 10% Of Vivendi’s UMG For About $4 Bln
Hedge-fund billionaire William Ackman’s Pershing Square Tontine Holdings Ltd. (PSTH) agreed to acquire 10% of Universal Music Group from French media conglomerate Vivendi (VIV.L,VIVEF.PK) for about $4 billion, the companies said in a statement on Sunday.
The deal represents an enterprise value of 35 billion euros for UMG. The deal would be subject to customary closing conditions including the authorization to be given by Vivendi shareholders at the June 22 Shareholders’ Meeting.
The transaction is set to close in the coming weeks, and at the latest by September 15, Vivendi said.
Unlike most SPAC business combinations, PSTH and UMG will not combine into one company following the deal.
Pershing Square Tontine said it will remain listed with about $1.5 billion in cash and access to an additional $1.4 billion with the Pershing Square Funds. It will continue to search for a new business combination.
Pershing Square Tontine plans to distribute the Universal Music shares to PSTH shareholders after the music business’s planned public listing in Amsterdam later this year.
Vivendi said that its management board will propose, at the June 22, 2021 Shareholders’ Meeting, to distribute 60% of UMG’s share capital to Vivendi shareholders and list UMG on the Euronext Amsterdam stock exchange towards the end of September.
In January 2021, a Tencent Holdings-led consortium acquired additional 10 percent equity stake in UMG, lifting its ownership to 20 percent.
