Two people badly injured in fire at NYCHA building

Two people were badly injured Friday when a fire broke out at a New York City Housing Authority building in East Harlem, officials said.

The inferno started around 10:27 a.m. inside of a third-floor apartment at the Woodrow Wilson Houses at East 105th Street, sending two people to the hospital in serious condition, the FDNY said.

One person was sent to Metropolitan Hospital and one person was sent to NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital, the agency said.

A total of 20 units and 78 fire personnel responded to the scene and were able to get the fire under control by 11:02 a.m., the FDNY said.

NYCHA did not immediately return a request for comment.
