‘The Simpsons’ Pulling Episode Featuring Michael Jackson
“The Simpsons” is pulling one of its classic episodes featuring Michael Jackson from circulation in the wake of a released controversial documentary about the king of pop.
The Wall Street Journal quoted Simpsons executive producer James L. Brooks as saying that the season 3 episode “Stark Raving Dad” which featured Jackson’s voice as a character named Leon Kompowsky, will be pulled from streaming services, syndication, and from all future DVD and Blu-Ray box sets.
Brooks said he and his co-executive producers made the decision after watching Leaving Neverland on HBO.
Leaving Neverland, directed by Dan Reed, follows two men, Wade Robson and James Safechuck, who allege that they were sexually abused by Jackson when they were children.
Jackson’s estate has denied the claims and filed a lawsuit against HBO over the documentary about the king of pop, seeking $100 million in damages.
