'The Expanding Universe of Ashley Garcia' Star Paulina Chávez Calls Life 'Surreal' Now

Brady Skjei traded by Rangers to Hurricanes for first-round pick

The Rangers made one major deal ahead of the NHL trade deadline Monday, sending Brady Skjei to the Carolina Hurricanes for a first-round pick, The Post’s Larry Brooks confirmed.

Skjei, 25, was in his fourth full season with the Rangers after being selected No. 28 overall in the 2012 NHL Draft. The defenseman is under contract for four more seasons with a $5.25 million salary-cap hit. Skjei has 23 points in 60 games this season.

The trade clears out some future space as earlier Monday the Rangers signed Chris Kreider to a seven-year extension worth $6.5 million a season.

ABC 7’s Rob Nelson exiting anchor gig after becoming a father

Local ABC anchor Rob Nelson’s exiting “Eyewitness News.”

“Becoming a father has shifted my perspective and priorities, and now feels like the right time to move on after six years with the station,” he said in an e-mail to colleagues.

Nelson’s been on paternity leave since he and wife Jenny Hurwitz welcomed a son last fall.

He’ll return to the air March 18 before his last day: April 10.
