Shin-Etsu Chemical FY Net Income Rises; Net Sales Up 35.4%

Unilever Plc Q1 Turnover Rises

Unilever Plc (UN,ULVR.L,UL), a British-Dutch consumer goods major, on Thursday reported a rise in turnover and a growth in underlying sales for the first-quarter.

For the three-month period, the company’s turnover increased by 7 percent, from last year quarter, to 14.8 billion euros. This includes a currency impact of 0.4 percent and 2.8 percent from disposals net of acquisitions.

Underlying sales growth accelerated to 10.5 percent, driven by price growth in response to continued high input cost inflation and an improved volume performance.

For the first-quarter, the Board has declared an interim dividend of 0.3783 pound or 0.4268 euro per share, to be paid on June 15, to shareholders of record on May 19.

Looking ahead, for full year 2023, the Group now expects underlying sales growth of at least at the upper end of its multi-year range of 3%-5%.

The company continues to expect a modest improvement in underlying operating margin in the full year, with another year of increased investment.

Air China Posts Narrower Loss In Q1

Air China Limited (AIRC.L,AIRYY.PK) reported a net loss from continuing operations of RMB 3.27 billion for the first quarter compared to a loss of RMB 9.87 billion, previous year. Basic loss per share was RMB 0.19 compared to a loss of RMB 0.65. First quarter total revenue from operations increased to RMB 25.07 billion from RMB 12.92 billion.

The board of Air China held a meeting of the Board on 26 April 2023 and passed the resolution approving the first quarterly report of 2023.

Deutsche Boerse Offers To Buy SimCorp In EUR 3.9 Bln Deal; Stocks Move

Germany’s Deutsche Boerse Group (DBOEY.PK) announced Thursday that it has signed an agreement on voluntary all-cash recommended public takeover offer to acquire Danish software and services provider SimCorp A/S at a price of 735 Danish kroner per share. The total consideration to be offered under the Offer for all SimCorp shares is approximately 3.9 billion euros.

SimCorp shares were gaining around 39 percent in the morning trading in Denmark, while Deutsche Boerse shares were losing around 6 percent.

The intended offer price represents a 38.9 percent premium and a 45.3 percent premium over the closing price of DKK 529.00 and the 3- months volume-weighted average price of DKK 505.73 as of 26 April 2023, respectively.

SimCorp Board of Directors has unanimously resolved that it intends to recommend its shareholders to accept the offer, when made.

Completion of the Offer will be subject to satisfaction of certain customary conditions.

In Germany, Deutsche Boerse shares were trading at 171.40 euros, down 6.42 percent.

In Denmark, SimCorp shares were trading at 732 kroner, up 38.37 percent.

Shin-Etsu Chemical FY Net Income Rises; Net Sales Up 35.4%

Shin-Etsu Chemical (SHECF.PK,SHECY.PK) reported that its fiscal year net income to owners of parent increased 41.6% to 708.2 billion yen from last year. Earnings per share was 347.61 yen compared to 240.55 yen. Net sales were up 35.4% to 2.81 trillion yen.

The company said it will continue capital investments and R&D activities so as to meet the needs and demands of customers and markets in a timely manner.
