R. Kelly Pleads Not Guilty To Sexual Abuse Charges
After spending the weekend behind bars, R&B star R. Kelly was released on bail from a Chicago jail on Monday after pleading not guilty to sexual abuse charges and posting a $100,000 bail.
Forbidden from making contact with females any younger than 18, the singer is presently awaiting trial on several sexual abuse charges, some of which have been ongoing for more than a decade.
Michael Avenatti, an attorney representing two of the four women who have accused Kelly of sexually abusing them, has presented two videos of the incidents as evidence to the court.
“The conduct in the tape can be described as nothing short of outrageous, illegal. It leaves no question as to Mr. Kelly’s guilt,” said Avenatti, adding that he is aware of the existence of a third tape.
Meanwhile, Kelly’s attorney Steve Greenberg argued, “We should all be taking a step back. Let’s see what happens, what the evidence is and how this plays out.”
