Netflix’s Decision to Cancel Marvel Shows Explained

Many fans of Marvel‘s original content on Netflix were shocked when the streaming service pulled the plug on the five hit shows.

An explanation has been offered by The Hollywood Reporter, who said that Netflix simply didn’t have any ownership in the five TV shows: Jessica Jones, The Punisher, Daredevil, Luke Cage, and Iron Fist. Netflix reportedly had to pay ABC Studios a large licensing fee for each of the five shows to keep them streaming.

In addition, ABC Studios/Disney seems to be focusing more on their own upcoming streaming service, Disney+, and there is speculation the five shows could continue there.

The shows are still available to stream as of right now, and it’s unclear if or when they will be removed.
