Avon Stops Trading On NYSE After Merger
Shares of Avon Products, Inc. (AVP) that hit 52-week high of $5.92 on Friday stopped trading on the NYSE followed by its merger with Natura & Co.
Avon, a direct marketer of beauty products, jewelry, accessories, and clothing has been acquired by Brazilian cosmetics group Natura & Co. and the deal was closed on January 3, 2020. Under the terms of the deal Natura will hold 76% of the combined business with more than $10 billion annual revenue.
The Sao Paolo company, listed on B3, expects its American depositary receipts to begin trading on the New York Stock Exchange today, January 6. Avon shareholders will have the option to receive ADRs traded on the NYSE or shares listed on B3.
The two companies expect the annual synergies target for the combined company in the range of $150 million to $250 million.

Shares of nuclear components maker BWX Technologies Inc. (BWXT) touched a 52-week high of $65.46 on Jan. 3, 2020, and closed Friday’s trading session at $65.43, up $1.80 or 2.83%.
As recently as January 2, BWX Technologies’ subsidiary BWXT Canada Ltd. acquired Laker Energy Products Inc. to broaden BWXT’s portfolio of critical CANDU components for its global customer base.
On November 4, 2019, the company reported upbeat Q3 results, reflecting solid operating performance in all of its business segments.
The company’s Q3 GAAP net income was $74.8 million or $0.78 per share versus $77.9 million or $0.78 per share last year.
Non-GAAP net income rose to $75.3 million or $0.79 per share from $40.1 million or $0.40 per share in the prior-year period.
Revenue was $506 million, a new quarterly record for the company and an 18.9% increase compared with $426 million in the third quarter of 2018.
Further, the company increased its fiscal 2019 non-GAAP EPS outlook to about $2.55, and reiterated its revenue growth target of about 6%.
Based on a robust organic growth strategy and balance sheet capacity, BWXT reiterated long-term guidance for non-GAAP EPS, excluding the benefit of tax reform, compound annual growth rate (CAGR) in the low-double digits over a three-to-five year period from 2017.
Power restored to all BC Hydro customers impacted by NYE storm: utility
Five days after a New Year’s Eve storm knocked out power to around 160,000 BC Hydro customers, the utility said it’s restored power to the last remaining affected customers.
The utility said 35 customers in Johnson’s Landing area, in B.C.’s Kootenays, were the final group to have power restored.
They came back online just after 2 p.m. on Sunday, Jan. 5, five days after the storm.

$500,000 lottery ticket purchased in Dieppe, N.B.
A ticket purchased in New Brunswick is going to make one lucky Canadian $500,000 richer, but the largest prize in the nation’s lottery history remains up for grabs.
There was no winning ticket sold for the $70 million dollar jackpot in Friday night’s Lotto Max draw.
Officials say that the winning half-million lottery ticket was purchased in Dieppe, N.B.
The jackpot for the next Lotto Max draw on Jan. 7 will remain at approximately $70 million.
Gold Hovers Near Seven-year High
Gold prices hit their highest level in nearly seven years on Monday as intensifying tensions in the Middle East drove investors towards the safe-haven metal.
Spot gold was up 1.6 percent at $1,576.69 per ounce, after having touched its highest level since April 10, 2013 at $1,579.55 earlier in the session. U.S. gold futures were up 1.7 percent at $1,578.65.
Risk sentiment remains fragile after Iran vowed “severe revenge” against the United States for killing top commander Qasem Soleimani and U.S. President Donald Trump threatened Iraq with harsh sanctions if the country forced out U.S. troops.
The threat against Iraq, the second largest producer among the OPEC, comes after its parliament voted in favor of a resolution calling for an end to the foreign military presence in the country, including the estimated 5,200 U.S. troops stationed to help fight Islamic State extremists.
Iran announced Sunday it would no longer abide by the limits contained in the 2015 nuclear deal while reports from Baghdad say the U.S. embassy compound there was targeted in an attack on Sunday evening.

Multiple suspects sought by Toronto police after stabbing at subway station
Toronto police are looking for 6 suspects after a stabbing at the North York Centre subway station just after midnight on Saturday.
Police said the suspects stabbed a man who was outside the station with his friends.
Paramedics transported him to hospital with non-life threatening injuries, officials said.
Police do not have a description of the suspects at this time.
