‘Midnight Cowboy’ star Brenda Vaccaro recalls dropping acid with Michael Douglas
Stars of the musical “Ain’t Too Proud: The Life and Times of the Temptations” arrived at opening night in a vintage Cadillac limo used by the real Motown act in the ’60s.
The classic ride left a “Tonight Show” taping at 30 Rock with a police escort and headed to the Imperial Theatre, arriving minutes ahead of the 7 p.m. performance. At the after-party, guests including Berry Gordy, Eric Holder, Sarah Ferguson, Mary Wilson, Josh Groban, Tom Ford and Otis Williams partied till the wee hours.
Fergie was still on the dance floor at 3 a.m. at Gotham Hall, renamed “the Legacy Room” for the night. A source at the wild bash told us that “Midnight Cowboy” star Brenda Vaccaro, “had a flashback as the DJ was spinning . . . revealing to revelers that the last time she heard Barry White’s ‘Love’s Theme,’ she dropped acid with Michael Douglas in the ’70s.”
The source said that Vaccaro was also discussing her plans for a Broadway comeback at the party.
Temptations and Supremes manager Shelly Berger was overheard enthusing of the night, “It was the DJ. The beat was intoxicating!”
