Michael Jackson Documentary ‘Leaving Neverland’ Attracts Huge Audience

The HBO premiere of Leaving Neverland, a documentary about sexual abuse allegations against Michael Jackson, was viewed by 1.3 million people on Sunday night, making it the third-most watched documentary premiere for the network in a decade.

Only two other films – Going Clear (1.7 million) and Bright Lights (1.6 million) – fared better than the controversial documentary about the music legend.

The second part of the four-hour film was aired on the premium cable channel on Monday.

Leaving Neverland, directed by Dan Reed, follows two men, Wade Robson and James Safechuck, who allege that they were sexually abused by Jackson when they were children.

Jackson’s estate has denied the claims and filed a lawsuit against HBO over the documentary about the king of pop, seeking $100 million in damages.
