Stock Alert: TPG Specialty Lending

Shares of asset management company TPG Specialty Lending, Inc. (TSLX) are gaining more than 2% on Thursday after it reported its fourth-quarter results.

Net income for the fourth quarter was $37.7 million or $0.57 per share compared with $14.2 million or $0.22 per share a year ago.

Net investment income in the fourth quarter, however, decreased to $33.8 million or $0.51 per share from $44.1 million or $0.67 per share in the same quarter a year ago. Analysts polled by Thomson Reuters were expecting earnings of $0.47 per share.

The decrease in investment income was primarily driven by a decrease in accelerated amortization of upfront fees and prepayment fees.

The stock touched a new high of $23.67 today, and is currently trading at $23.11.

Stock Alert: Copart Drops 9%

Shares of online vehicle auctions company Copart, Inc. (CPRT) are falling more than 9% on Thursday morning after second-quarter earnings missed estimates.

The stock gapped down more than 7% today morning and is currently trading at $91.30. CPRT has traded in the range of $51.99-$104.88 in the past one year.

EPS in the third quarter was $0.71 compared with $0.55 in the same quarter a year ago. Excluding items, adjusted EPS of $0.65 missed average estimates of analysts polled by Thomson Reuters by $0.01.

Revenue, increased 18.6% year-over-year to $575.1 million but missed estimates of $576.04 million.

WASHINGTON (Reuters) – The United States on Thursday imposed sanctions on five Iranians in its latest action targeting Tehran, according to a notice posted Thursday on the U.S. Treasury Department’s website.

The Treasury said it sanctioned Ahmad Jannati, Abbas Ali Kadkhodaei, Siamak Rahpeyk, Mohammad Hasan Sadeghi Moghadam and Mohammad Yazdi.

BioXcel Therapeutics Inc. (BTAI), which had a banner year in 2019, gaining a whopping 338%, is up an impressive 50% so far this year.

BioXcel Therapeutics is a clinical-stage biopharmaceutical company focused on drug development that utilizes artificial intelligence to identify improved therapies in neuroscience and immuno-oncology.

The most advanced drug candidate in the pipeline is BXCL501, which is under a phase III program dubbed SERENITY, consisting of two phase III studies for the acute treatment of agitation in patients with schizophrenia and bipolar disorder. Topline data from both the phase III trials, known as SERENITY I and SERENITY II, are expected in mid-2020.

BXCL501 is also under a phase Ib/II study for the acute treatment of agitation in patients with dementia. Topline results are expected in mid-2020.

A phase Ib/II trial of BXCL501 for the treatment of opioid withdrawal symptoms, dubbed RELEASE, is also expected to be initiated soon.

Next up in the pipeline is BXCL701, which in combination with Keytruda, is under a phase Ib/II trial in treatment-emergent Neuroendocrine Prostate Cancer (tNEPC). Data read-out from this trial is expected in the first half of 2020.

As of September 30, 2019, the Company had cash and cash equivalents of roughly $40.3 million.

BTAI has traded in a range of $3.76 to $22.50 in the last 1 year. As of this writing, the stock is up 18.97% at $22.49.

The now-15-year-old Brockville girl charged with manslaughter in the death of Damian Sobieraj was found guilty Wednesday evening.

In her judgment, Justice Kimberly Moore explained that she didn’t accept the defence’s argument that the teen was defending her friends when she rushed in and “body-checked” Sobieraj off the Hardy Park boardwalk and into the St. Lawrence River on Sept. 13, 2018, where he drowned to death.

U.S. stocks are firmly lower early Thursday, pressured amid renewed concerns regarding the coronavirus’ potential economic impact.

Against this backdrop, the S&P 500 has reversed from its latest record high, dropping within striking distance of its breakout point (3,337). Thursday’s early session low (3,341) has registered slightly higher, and the initial retest will likely add color.
