Man fatally stabbed in the neck in Toxteth, Liverpool

Police have launched a murder inquiry after a man was stabbed to death in the Toxteth area of Liverpool.

Officers were called to Bentley Road at about 1.20pm on Thursday, after getting reports that a man in his 20s had been stabbed in the neck.

He was taken to hospital and died a short time later, Merseyside Police said.

The force described it as an “appalling crime” that happened in “broad daylight”.

Officers are in the process of formally identifying the victim and informing his next of kin.

Forensics and CCTV are being examined, while officers are going from house to house.

“We’re currently in the very early stages of the investigation, however it is vital that anyone with information that could assist our enquiries gets in touch,” said Detective Inspector Phil Mahon.

“This is an appalling crime which has occurred in a busy residential area in broad daylight. A young man has tragically lost his life and we will do our utmost to find those responsible and bring them to justice.”
