In a post to Instagram, Canadian country star Lindsay Ell explained that a recent checkup with her doctor revealed the existence of pre-cancerous cells in her body.

“I don’t have cancer, but the doctor found pre-cancerous cells growing in my body that need to be removed…Going in for surgery today, gonna get this stuff out of my body,” she wrote in the caption of a candid selfie.

Ell also stressed the utmost importance of having regular checkups, writing, “Sometimes we think we’re fine. Sometimes we think we eat healthy and workout, and that means we should be fine. But never underestimate the power of a check up at the doctor. You never know, and if you catch something early enough, it could save your life.”

Meanwhile, Ell has been nominated for the New Female Artist of the Year Award at the 2019 ACM Awards, to be held at the Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas on April 8, 2019.
