Khalid has announced that his sophomore album, titled Free Spirit, will be released on April 5.

Free Spirit is a follow-up to the Texas singer-songwriter’s acclaimed 2017 debut album, American Teen.

“Free Spirit the album Drops on April 5th. Make sure to pre-order on March 7th,” Khalid announced on Twitter and posted an album cover.

The Grammy-nominated singer-songwriter spoke to Rolling Stone about the album.

“I’ve written these songs all over the world — in hotel rooms, tour buses, backstage. I’ve learned how to talk about my anxieties in music,” he said. “A lot of people my age are struggling with being themselves in the world. I want to let them know I feel the same things.”

Meanwhile, Khalid will be the musical guest on “Saturday Night Live” on March 9.
