Joe Girardi has a new job in baseball
Joe Girardi is joining the broadcast booth.
The former Yankees manager has been added to Fox Sports’ on-air broadcasters lineup for the 2019 Major League Baseball season, the network announced. Girardi will join Fox Sports’ regular-season game coverage as an analyst while continuing his work in the studio for MLB Network.
Girardi had interviewed for some managerial openings this offseason, specifically the Reds and Rangers. He was considered the Reds’ “top choice” but took himself out of the running after a second interview.
The 54-year-old has repeatedly said he wants to manage again, but for now he will raise his broadcasting profile.
Girardi was let go by the Yankees after the 2017 season following 10 seasons as manager. He led the Yankees to a World Series championship in 2009.
