Cintas Q2 profit rises on higher revenue

Cintas Corp.’s CTAS, +0.01% posted a higher profit in its fiscal second quarter after revenue picked up from a year earlier.

Net income was $246.1 million in the quarter ended Nov. 30, or $2.27 a share, up from $243 million, or $2.18 a share, in the comparable quarter a year earlier.

Analysts polled by FactSet were expecting earnings of $2.04 a share.

Revenue increased 7.3% from a year ago to $1.84 billion. Analysts polled by FactSet were expecting $1.82 billion.

US envoy for North Korea Biegun to visit China this week: State Department

WASHINGTON (REUTERS) – US special envoy for North Korea Stephen Biegun will visit Beijing on Thursday (Dec 19) and Friday, the US State Department said on Tuesday.

Mr Biegun will travel to China after holding talks with officials in South Korea and Japan this week.

Amazon hires Sun Country to add to cargo unit, report says

In a move to boost its next-day shipping business, Amazon.com Inc. AMZN, +1.21% has hired budget-carrier Sun Country Airlines to fly 10 cargo jets, The Wall Street Journal reported late Tuesday. The Minneapolis-based company will add to the e-commerce giant’s already existing U.S. cargo partners such as Air Transport Services Group Inc. ATSG, +1.16% and Atlas Air Worldwide Holdings Inc. AAWW, +2.70%. As part of the deal, Amazon will receive warrants to acquire a minority stake in the airline, the Journal reported. Apollo Global Management Inc. acquired Sun Country two years ago. Amazon stock fell less than 0.1% in the after-hours session and closed up 1.2% Tuesday during regular trading. The S&P 500 index SPX, +0.03% closed up less than 0.1%.

Matthew Warsh said he found security footage of someone picking up an Amazon package from his porch in Dollard-des-Ormeaux on Monday.

Rocket Review: mid-season tune-up, check-up for Kelowna

The Kelowna Rockets are almost halfway through the 2019-20 season.

After Wednesday’s home game with the Vancouver Giants, the Rockets will have played 32 games, with another 36 remaining before the end of the season.

“I think we’re a lot clearer in the direction we’re going,” Rocket president and general manager Bruce Hamilton told Global News on Tuesday.

Her current client roster includes Mark-Paul Gosselaar (Mixed-ish), Paige Spara (The Good Doctor), and Lex Scott Davis (The First Purge) among others. Penn, who has spent 10-years in the industry, has worked in a variety of areas within the entertainment industry including production, casting and publicity.

 

 

Stocks making the biggest moves after hours: FedEx, Cintas, Steelcase and more

Check out the companies making headlines after hours on Tuesday:

FedEx — Shares of the shipping giant fell nearly 7% in extended trading on Tuesday after the company posted weaker-than-expected earnings. In the company's second quarter, FedEx reported adjusted earnings per share of $2.51, which is less than the $2.76 EPS analysts expected. Revenue came in at $17.32 billion compared to the $17.58 billion expected.

Steelcase – The office furniture company's shares were up over 5% in extended trading after the company beat earnings and revenue expectations. The company reported earnings per share of 46 cents on revenue of $955 million. Analysts expected earnings per share of 35 cents and revenue of $935 million.

Cintas — Stock of the uniform provider was up nearly 3% in extended trading after the company reported better-than-expected earnings and revenue. The company reported earnings per share of $2.27 compared to the $2.03 EPS that analysts expected and revenue of $1.84 billion versus the $1.821 billion analysts expected.

Palo Alto Networks — The network security company's stock fell nearly 1% in extended trading after the Securities and Exchange Commission announced insider trading charges against a former IT administrator for the company and four of his friends.

PG&E submits settlement agreement related to 2017, 2018 California wildfires

Dec 17 (Reuters) – PG&E Corp said on Tuesday it submitted a multi-party settlement agreement related to the 2017 and 2018 wildfires in Northern California to the California Public Utilities Commission (CPUC).

The settlement proposes the energy utility pay $50 million for shareholder-funded system enhancements, specifically on the company’s electric transmission and distribution system.

The settlement agreement also prohibits the company from seeking $1.625 billion in wildfire-related costs from customers. (Reporting by Rishika Chatterjee in Bengaluru; Editing by Subhranshu Sahu)

TOKYO (Reuters) – Japan’s foreign ministry has demanded the early release of fishermen detained by Russia, Kyodo News reported on Wednesday.

Russian border guards seized five Japanese fishing boats the previous day and took them to one of the Russian-held islands claimed by Japan, Japanese public broadcaster NHK reported earlier.
