Idris Elba is taking on a new role that previously belonged to Will Smith.

The 46-year-old actor will replace the 50-year-old star as Deadshot in the upcoming Suicide Squad sequel, Variety reported on Wednesday (March 6).

As it was previously announced, Will was forced to exit the sequel due to scheduling conflicts, which resulted in the studio quickly scrambling to find another star to take on his role before the movie starts filming in September.

It is not yet known who else will be on the cast, although Margot Robbie is expected to return to play Harley Quinn.

The film is set to be released on August 6, 2021.
