U.S. Factory Orders Surge More Than Expected In March

New orders for U.S. manufactured goods spiked by more than expected in the month of March, according to a report released by the Commerce Department on Tuesday.

The report showed factory orders surged by 2.2 percent in March following a revised 0.1 percent uptick in February.

Economists had expected factory orders to jump by 1.1 percent compared to the 0.5 percent drop originally reported for the previous month.

The sharp increase in factory orders came as orders for non-durable goods soared by 3.2 percent, while orders for durable goods shot up by 1.1 percent.

The report also showed shipments of manufactured goods spiked by 2.3 percent in March after jumping by 1.1 percent in February.

Inventories of manufactured goods also shot up by 1.3 percent in March following a 0.9 percent increase in February.

With orders jumping by inventories, the inventories-to-shipments ratio dropped to 1.43 in March from 1.45 in February.

Catalent Gains On Higher Q3 Guidance, Outlook

Catalent, Inc. (CTLT) shares are gaining more than 13 percent on Tuesday morning trade after the company reported 23 percent increase in third-quarter revenue on a constant currency.

The company reported third-quarter net revenue of $1.27 billion, up from $1.05 billion in the prior year. Organic net revenue growth was 20 percent over the same period.
Looking ahead to fiscal 2022, the company updated revenue guidance of $4.80 -$4.90 billion, up from the previous outlook range of $4.74 -$4.86 billion.

Currently, shares are at $102.20, up 13.40 percent from the previous close of $90.12 on a volume of 1,056,128.

Agora Shares Rise 8%

Shares of live streaming platform Agora, Inc. (API) are rising 8 percent on Tuesday’s trading despite there being no company-specific announcement to influence the stock.

Currently at $7.84, the stock has traded between $6.30 and $49.32 during the past 52 weeks.

Ostin Technology Stock Surges 40%

Shares of Ostin Technology Group Co., Ltd. (OST) are gaining over 40% on Tuesday morning.

OST is currently trading at $4.30, up $1.28 or 42.3841%, on the Nasdaq, on a huge volume of 20 million shares, above average volume of 6.7 million. The stock had opened its trading at $3.75 after closing Monday’s trading at $3.02. OST has traded between $2.91 and $47.79 in the 52 week period.

Ostin Technology Group, a Chinese supplier of display modules, had debuted on Nasdaq on Wednesday, April 27. Ostin opened its trading at $10.10 on its debut day, compared to its $4 offer price, and closed the day’s trading at $39.66. But, the stock took a beating on its next three days of trading, and closed Monday’s trading $3.02.

Ostin Technology Group designs, develops, and manufactures thin-film transistor liquid crystal display (TFT-LCD) modules and polarizers in China.

Identity of man fatally shot by Evans police is released

A man who was shot dead by police in Evans last week has been identified.

Manuel Moreno, 65, of Evans, was shot by police in the 4300 block of 37th Street, according to the Weld County Coroner’s Office. Moreno was taken by ambulance to a local hospital where he died.

The shooting happened on April 26 when officers responded to a call about a suspicious person who was allegedly armed. The 19th Judicial Critical Incident Response Team is investigating the fatal police shooting.
