Mongolia shuts universities, border crossings to halt virus spread

SHANGHAI (Reuters) – Mongolia has closed from Monday until Mar. 2 all universities and educational institutes to contain the spread of a deadly coronavirus sweeping China, state media Montsame said, citing a cabinet meeting.

It has also closed border crossings for auto vehicles and pedestrian traffic, from Monday, and called for all public gatherings to be canceled.

Chinese premier visits city at epicentre of Wuhan coronavirus

WUHAN (AFP) – Chinese Premier Li Keqiang on Monday (Jan 27) paid his first visit to Wuhan since the city was struck by the outbreak of a deadly virus that has spread across the country and sparked global concern.

Wearing a mask and blue plastic scrubs, Li was in Wuhan to “investigate and guide” ongoing efforts to control the virus, China’s State Council said on its official social media account.

Ex-GOP Lawmaker David Jolly Puts Republican Senators On Notice After Bolton Book Report

A former Republican member of Congress on Sunday put his onetime colleagues on notice after The New York Times reported on details from a draft outline of former national security adviser John Bolton’s forthcoming book.  

Bolton recalls President Donald Trump saying he wanted to withhold aid to Ukraine until the nation agreed to investigate former Vice President Joe Biden and his son Hunter, according to the Times report. 

David Jolly, who represented a Florida district from 2014 to 2017, said the GOP-controlled Senate must now call Bolton as a witness during the president’s impeachment trial. And if they don’t, he argued, they’re guilty of a cover-up.

Jolly, a consistent Trump critic, quit the Republican Party in 2018 over its support of the president.
