Harvey Tyrrell death: Seven-year-old died of electrocution, police say

A seven-year-old boy who was found unresponsive in a pub garden in east London last year died from electrocution, police have said.

Officers were called to back garden of The King Harold pub in Station Road in Romford at around 5.20pm on 11 September 2018.

Harvey Tyrrell died after climbing over a wall to get a football.

Police and paramedics tried to save him but he was pronounced dead in hospital just over an hour later.

The Metropolitan Police on Monday confirmed the cause of death was electrocution.

A special post-mortem was carried out on 13 September at St Thomas’ Hospital.

Detectives continue to investigate the youngster’s death, the force said, adding that two men had been interviewed under caution in connection with the case.

A 70-year-old was interviewed the day after the incident and a 72-year-old on 11 January.

A file on the incident has now been sent to the Crown Prosecution Service, the force said.

An online fundraising appeal in the wake of Harvey’s death described Harvey, from Harold Wood in Romford, as “a beautiful, happy and healthy seven-year-old boy who loved his football just like any other boy his age”.
