DoubleVerify (DV) has agreed to acquire Meetrics GmbH, a European ad verification company headquartered in Berlin, Germany, in an all-cash deal. Meetrics is a global measurement partner of Google and Facebook. It offers media quality measurement and solutions, including viewability, brand safety and suitability, audience verification and ad fraud prevention. Meetrics serves more than 80 customers across 23 countries in Europe.

DoubleVerify noted that the Meetrics sales, product and engineering teams will continue to operate from offices in EMEA. The deal is anticipated to close in the third quarter of 2021.

Zambia's new finance minister stresses importance of IMF programme

LUSAKA, Aug 29 (Reuters) – Zambia’s Finance Minister Situmbeko Musokotwane said on Sunday it was critical to agree a lending programme with the IMF because it would give creditors confidence and the government cheaper and longer financing.

Musokotwane, appointed on Friday by recently elected President Hakainde Hichilema, told public broadcaster ZNBC he was confident Zambia would get an IMF programme before the end of the year and thereafter restructure its debt.

Evacuees from Afghanistan are arriving in nations across the globe as the U.S. winds down the withdrawal of all its troops from the country by Tuesday. Since mass evacuations began Aug. 14, the U.S. has helped airlift approximately 116,700 people out of Afghanistan, according to the latest figures from the White House.

Afghan nationals arriving in the United States will be housed temporarily at Fort Lee, Fort Pickett and Marine Corps Base Quantico in Virginia, Fort McCoy in Wisconsin, Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst in New Jersey, Fort Bliss in Texas and Holloman Air Force Base in New Mexico.

In Kabul on Monday, U.S. missile defenses intercepted as many as five rockets near Hamid Karzai International Airport, where the airlift is taking place.

On Thursday, 13 U.S. service members and dozens more people were killed in a suicide bombing attack just outside the Kabul airport. The U.S. continued its evacuation efforts despite warnings of more terror attacks and over the weekend conducted two known drone strikes against ISIS-K members believed to be involved in the attack.

New Zealand reports 53 new cases of COVID-19

WELLINGTON (Reuters) – New zealand reported 53 new cases of COVID-19 on Monday, all in its biggest city Auckland, taking the total number of active cases in the latest community outbreak to 562.

The total number of community cases in Auckland is now 547 and 15 in the capital Wellington.

The Pentagon announced Monday that all U.S. troops have departed Afghanistan.

The removal of U.S. troops meets the Aug. 31 deadline the Biden administration agreed to with the Taliban, officially drawing the country’s longest-ever conflict to an end.

But the fate of those left behind remains a mystery, with White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki confirming earlier Monday that a “small number” of Americans who want to leave remain in the country.

Psaki could not give an estimate on exactly how many Americans remained in the country, though a senior State Department official put the number at “below 250.”

“There’s a lot of heartbreak associated with this departure,” CENTCOM Commander Gen. Kenneth McKenzie said of the closing down of evacuation operations.n He acknowledged, “We did not get everybody out that we wanted to get out.”

It asks bourses to cancel nod for deal

Amazon has written to SEBI requesting the regulator to direct stock exchanges to withdraw the ‘Observation Letters’ that were issued related to the proposed ₹24,713-crore Future-Reliance deal.

The U.S. e-commerce giant has also urged SEBI to take necessary action to comply with the recent Supreme Court judgment related to the deal.

“In light of the directions contained in the Enforcement Judgment, and the EA Order whose validity has been affirmed by the Hon’ble Supreme Court, Amazon requests you to take all such action as is necessary to comply with the Supreme Court Judgment, and to further ensure that no communications subsist or emanate which are at variance with the Supreme Court Judgment,” Amazon wrote in a letter dated August 17, referring to the SC ruling on the order of the Singapore-based Emergency Arbitrator (EA). In January, SEBI had cleared the deal with riders.
