Frank Sinatra and Marlon Brando’s ‘Guys and Dolls’ Gets Remake Treatment
AceShowbiz -Studio bosses at TriStar are developing a remake of 1955 Frank Sinatra and Marlon Brando movie “Guys and Dolls“.
The executives have purchased the remake rights to short stories by Damon Runyon, the stage musical that featured music by Frank Loesser, and the film from the Samuel Goldwyn company, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
The “Guys and Dolls” plot revolves around gamblers trying to find a location for a floating craps game.
The classic movie, which featured the song “Luck Be a Lady”, also featured Jean Simmons and Vivian Blaine.
“Guys and Dolls” premiered on Broadway in 1950 and was revived in 1992 with Nathan Lane and Peter Gallagher among the leads.
Hollywood is currently awash with movie musicals in development – Steven Spielberg is revamping “West Side Story“, while Stephen Schwartz‘s “Wicked” will hit cinemas in 2021, and Andrew Lloyd Webber‘s “Cats” is set to debut at Christmas (December 2019).
