Twitter Users Point Out Hypocrisy Of Trump’s ‘No Kneeling’ Tweets About Protesting

Many people criticized New Orleans Saints quarterback Drew Brees this week for not appreciating why fellow NFL players like Colin Kaepernick have chosen to kneel during the national anthem.

Brees, who told Yahoo that he felt kneeling was “disrespectful” to the military, later apologized for his “insensitivity” after his Black teammates and other sports figures explained the kneeling was in protest of systemic racism. He said he “will work every day to put myself in those shoes and fight for what is right.”

Kaepernick only started kneeling after conferring with former Green Beret Nate Boyer on the most respectful way to protest.

President Donald Trump said Friday that Brees should not have apologized. He also criticized kneeling during the national anthem, an act he misrepresented as being a protest of the American flag.

As might be expected, many Twitter users had strong opinions about Trump’s comments.

Marcus Vanderberg of Yahoo Sports pointed out Friday afternoon that responding to Trump’s tweets would give Brees the chance to show he really meant what he said in his apology.

Brees hasn’t publicly commented on Trump’s tweet, and did not immediately respond to HuffPost’s request for comment.

Paul Walker’s Manager Sues Over Unpaid Commissions

The late Paul Walker’s manager is suing Vagrant Inc., the Fast & Furious actor’s loan-out company, over unpaid commissions.

In a nine-page complaint filed Friday in Los Angeles Superior Court (read it here), Matt Luber and Luber Roklin Entertainment allege that Vagrant failed to pay “an agreed-upon 5% management commission on Vagrant’s gross earnings, stemming from Mr. Luber’s management of Mr. Walker’s career.”

The breach-of-contract suit demands a jury trial and seeks unspecified damages. John Fowler and Kevin Cammiso of Kibler Fowler & Cave LLP in Los Angeles is representing the plaintiffs in the action.

Walker was killed in November 2013 when the car in which he was a passenger struck a tree at high speed. The driver, Walker’s friend, Roger Rodas, also died at the scene.

Facebook, Instagram Take Down Trump George Floyd Posts Over Alleged Copyright Violations

Facebook and Instagram claim Donald Trump’s video tributes for George Floyd violated copyright laws, and therefore took them down. The move follows a similar decision by Twitter.

The removed items included videos narrated by Trump that talked about Floyd’s death while a montage of photographs and videos appear. The alleged violations stemmed from those images.

The incident comes as Trump continues to contend that social media outlets have too much power. He has signed an executive order and asked regulators to consider whether they should be considered publishers responsible for content decisions. Currently, the Communications Decency Act shields them.

Twitter put fact-checking and warning labels on Trump content, but Facebook did not on the same post
