Copart, Inc. Q3 Profit Decreases, but beats estimates
Copart, Inc. (CPRT) announced a profit for third quarter that decreased from last year but beat the Street estimates.
The company’s bottom line totaled $278.62 million, or $1.16 per share. This compares with $286.80 million, or $1.19 per share, in last year’s third quarter.
Excluding items, Copart, Inc. reported adjusted earnings of $281.47 million or $1.17 per share for the period.
Analysts on average had expected the company to earn $1.14 per share, according to figures compiled by Thomson Reuters. Analysts’ estimates typically exclude special items.
The company’s revenue for the quarter rose 28.1% to $939.94 million from $733.91 million last year.

Wildfire breaks out at Great Sand Dunes National Park and Preserve.
A wildfire has broken out along the entrance road to the Great Sand Dunes National Park and Preserve.
The fire sparked at about 3 p.m. Wednesday afternoon in grassland, according to a tweet from park officials. Firefighters are on scene.
Inbound traffic to the park and the visitor center are closed because of the fire. There are no evacuations.
The fire was started by a lightning strike inside the park along Colorado 150, park officials said.

QinetiQ FY22 Underlying Operating Profit Declines On Organic Basis; Revenue Up 5%
QinetiQ Group plc (QQ.L) posted fiscal year 2022 underlying operating profit of 137.4 million pounds compared to 151.8 million pounds, last year, down 9%. Excluding the impact of the write-down underlying operating profit was flat at 151.9 million pounds. On an organic basis, underlying operating profit was down 12%. Underlying earnings per share was 20.4 pence compared to 21.9 pence.
For the year ended 31 March 2022, pretax profit declined to 119.7 million pounds from 142.6 million pounds, prior year. Earnings per share was 15.5 pence compared to 21.1 pence.
Revenue increased 3% to 1.32 billion pounds. Revenue was up 5% on an organic basis, for the period. Orders were up 9% on an organic basis.
The Board proposed a final dividend per share of 5.0 pence making the full year dividend 7.3 pence. The full year dividend represents an increase of 6% in line with the Group’s progressive dividend policy.
Generali Group Q1 Net Result Down, Gross Written Premiums Rise
Italian insurance group Assicurazioni Generali SpA (ARZGY.PK) reported Thursday that its first-quarter net result reached 727 million euros, down 9.3 percent from last year’s 802 million euros.
The results were affected by impairments on Russian investments amounting to 136 million euros. Excluding this impact, the net result would have been 863 million euros.
Adjusted earnings per share were 0.46 euro, compared to 0.51 euro a year ago.
Consolidated operating result, however, edged up 1.1 percent to 1.63 billion euros from prior year’s 1.61 billion euros, thanks to growth in the Life, P&C and Holding and other businesses segments. Asset & Wealth Management operating result fell 14.5 percent.
Gross written premiums increased 6.1 percent to 22.32 billion euros from prior year’s 19.71 billion euros, driven by growth in both the Life and P&C segments.
The total Assets Under Management amounted to 680.5 billion euros, down 4.1 percent from 709.62 billion euros a year ago.
Looking ahead, the company confirmed its commitment to pursue sustainable growth, enhance its earnings profile and lead innovation in order to achieve a compound annual growth rate in earnings per share8 between 6 percent and 8 percent in the period 2021-2024.
The company plans to distribute a cumulative dividend to shareholders for an amount between 5.2 billion euros and 5.6 billion euros in the period 2022-2024, with a ratchet policy on dividend per share.

It is cutting costs by more than £350 million to help offset the hit. They said it would also have to look at price increases for posting letter and parcels.
The cost of posting letters has already increased by an average of around seven percent, and parcel prices by an average of about four percent.
The group cautioned over “significant headwinds” as it faces higher wage demands, surging energy and fuel costs.
It comes as Royal Mail reported an eight percent rise in underlying operating profits to £758 million for the year to the end of March.
On a reported basis, pre-tax profits fell 8.8 percent to £662 million.

easyJet plc (ESYJY.PK,EZJ.L) said, for the first-half, the Group has reduced its losses year on year, at the better end of guidance. easyJet flew 23.4 million passengers during the period, up 471% on the prior period.
Looking forward, easyJet expects to operate 90% of fiscal 2019 capacity in third quarter, and has capacity on sale of around 97% of fiscal 2019 flying in fourth quarter.
For the six months ending 31 March 2022, headline loss before tax was 545 million pounds compared to a loss of 701 million pounds, prior year. Headline basic loss per share was 56.0 pence compared to a loss of 106.9 pence.
Reported loss before tax was 557 million pounds compared to a loss of 645 million pounds, last year. Basic loss per share narrowed to 57.2 pence from a loss of 102.0 pence.
Total revenue increased by 524% to 1.50 billion pounds predominantly due to the increase in capacity flown and ancillary products continuing to deliver incremental revenue. Capacity increased to 30.3 million seats from 6.4 million seats, prior year. Passenger revenue increased by 479.4% to 985 million pounds. Group ancillary revenue increased by 632.9% to 513 million pounds.
