Coroner says Prodigy singer Keith Flint hanged himself
Prodigy frontman Keith Flint killed himself by hanging, according to a report Monday.
No foul play is suspected in the death of the 49-year-old “Firestarter” singer, whose body was found near London last week, according to BBC, which cited a report from the Essex County Coroner’s Office.
“Police attended, all protocols were followed and his death was confirmed as not suspicious,” senior coroner Caroline Beasley said at a hearing on the matter, according to the station.
The coroner’s office is still awaiting the results of a toxicology report, she said.
The eye liner-rocking badboy vocalist rose to fame in the 1990s when the band released several dark, dance-electronic hits including the tune “Breathe.”
Prodigy released its most recent album in November and was scheduled to begin a US tour in May.
After his death March 4, bandmate Liam Howlett claimed Flint had killed himself, leaving Howlett “shell shocked, f-kin’ angry, confused and heart broken.”
