College student missing for three weeks found in submerged car
The body of a Texas college student who went missing three weeks ago has been recovered from a car submerged in a lake, officials said.
The body found in Cedar Creek Lake in Log Cabin was identified as 25-year-old Brenda Montanez, the Athens Review reported. Preliminary autopsy results indicate that she likely drowned.
Montanez was last seen Jan. 17 when she left a Plano barbecue and drove to her boyfriend’s home in Log Cabin.
The Addison college student — who aspired to be a detective — was reported missing when she never arrived, according to the Dallas News.
The Henderson County Sheriff’s Office confirmed there was “no trauma to the body at all” when pulled from her 2011 Mazda.
“As of this time, it does not look like there is any foul play involved, but we still have a lot to do with the investigation,” Sheriff Botie Hillhouse said.
The car was discovered about 75 feet from a boat ramp and 15 feet underwater, officials said.
A GoFundMepage was created to raise money for Montanez’s funeral.
